POSITION DESCRIPTION

Schwartz Media is at an exciting stage of development and is looking for an experienced Data Analyst to help us build a more detailed picture of existing and potential audiences across our platforms. Reporting to the chief executive, the ideal candidate will have a demonstrated technical expertise in sourcing and analysis of relevant data, including demographics, behaviours and values. They will be an effective communicator, who can work across teams and share the findings and implications of their research to inform strategy, as well as maintain and build relationships with external vendors/partners.

Key accountabilities

  • Liaise with internal commercial and editorial stakeholders to understand departmental objectives, challenges and opportunities
  • Conduct research and data analysis to understand audiences, demographics, behaviours and values
  • Employ exploratory analysis of the above across all platforms
  • Use observation and analysis to recommend iterative improvements to our titles and products
  • Collaborate with Product and Tech teams on the end-to-end process of test design, implementation and reporting
  • Democratise data through designing, building and automating dashboards or other means
  • Regularly document and communicate insights to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation to facilitate action on business opportunities
  • Manage and evaluate the effectiveness of analytics tools and data collection methods

Skills and experience

Technical:

  • Understanding of web analytics, GA4, marketplace environments and business KPIs
  • Experience analysing and manipulating large datasets
  • Proven proficiency in Excel, and ideally SQL and BigQuery databases
  • Knowledge of data privacy and compliance regulations
  • Ability to adapt to evolving technologies and industry trends
  • Attention to detail and an eye for data quality and hygiene

Storytelling and dissemination:

An ability to explain complex information to non-technical audiences
A proven ability to present compelling stories and provide actionable insights using data
An interest in data visualisation
An ability to plan and assist in the development of data visualisation projects, including data collection and presentation

Qualifications

At least 3 years’ experience in Data Analytics
Tertiary qualification or background in statistics, economics or data science
